We display a red shield logo both in our offices and on our website demonstrating that the Spine Institute Northwest has received an Excellence in Pain Practice (EPP) from the World Institute of Pain (WIP). Ever wondered what exactly we did to earn that honor? Well, we’d be glad to tell you!
The Spine Institute Northwest is one of a handful of pain centers around the world that has been awarded the EPP for Comprehensive Multidisciplinary Pain Practice, the highest level of award given by the WIP. The WIP began the EPP award in 2010 as an effort to promote high standards of pain practice by recognizing pain centers that excel in providing education and training in the field of pain practice. The WIP take a global approach to interventional pain management, encouraging the international exchange of medical knowledge and research and promoting learning opportunities for fellows and physicians. Founded more than 20 years ago, the WIP aims to give a voice to people around the world who suffer from chronic and acute pain.
With the EPP, the WIP provides credentials to pain treatment centers. To be receive the award for Comprehensive Multidisciplinary Pain Practice, they want to see that the doctors are actively learning new techniques by attending special training programs, seminars, and so on. Another component is that the pain center must offer learning opportunities for new doctors and fellows, helping to spread the knowledge of best practices for pain management. The WIP sends a representative for a site visit, during which every facet of the practice is examined, looking not just at what treatments are offered but also how both the physicians and the staff care for patients.
The Spine Institute Northwest is proud to be affiliated with the WIP as part of our commitment to helping people who are suffering from chronic pain not only in our own country, but also abroad. We continuously strive to improve our knowledge and techniques in order to bring all of our patients quality care and relief from chronic pain.
